Help Seraj and His Family Survive Amidst The Suffering
United States
This is Seraj Aburaida’s new campaign!
Please support Seraj’s fundraiser for him and his family in Gaza. Seraj and his family are displaced once again.
Seraj & his family have weathered many horrific days steadfastly, but the current situation is beyond catastrophic. As of late March, all 13 members of Seraj’s family (himself, his parents, his siblings, his sister’s husband, and his sister’s children) are displaced once again from their village of Khuza’a and are in deplorable circumstances.
It’s cold and rainy at night, and the days are getting hotter again. The borders have been closed for 3 weeks, and no food, water, medicine, machinery, housing, or supplies have entered.
Thanks to everyone’s help, Seraj was able to purchase a new tent for his family. However, they still need wood and nylon to build a makeshift bathroom, water for drinking and cleaning, firewood for cooking and warmth, and flour, vegetables, and other food items.
This large family was forced to flee with nothing. Because Seraj is solely responsible for so many family members, meeting his goals just for mere basics is an uphill battle. Seraj’s family needs a significant amount of money just to avoid starvation each day.
Please join us in supporting this incredible, steadfast young man by sharing his new campaign, supporting as generously as you’re able, and fighting for an end to the genocide.
Seraj’s Story
Our comrades have been connected to Seraj Aburaida since January 18, 2024. When they were first connected, Seraj was staying in the camps in Khan Younis but everything there was bombed. His family was displaced for the 3rd time to Rafah, and then for a 4th time back to Khan Younis.
After the ceasefire in January, Seraj’s family returned to their partially-destroyed home in Khuza’a to rebuild and recover. However, as their village is mere meters from the “border” with the occupation, they came under almost immediate fire once the violence returned. They’ve been displaced for a 5th time now, and this is the hardest yet.
Seraj has completed 6 successful, self-managed, on-the-ground mutual aid projects for his displaced neighbors since October 2023. He is a passionate stutent of IT, and was studying in the mobile programming branch of his university and close to graduation. However, since losing his access to education, giving to others has been his greatest source of joy.
Seraj’s family, like many others in Gaza, are surviving on mutual aid alone. International organizations and nonprofits have abandoned them. We are what we have, and that’s so blatantly obvious. Please help Seraj’s family stay alive.
Our goal today is $850 for flour, firewood, and a few vegetables! Support here on on PayPal at bit.ly/payseraj.
Seraj is only 22 but he has been his large family’s sole breadwinner for nearly 2 years now! The responsibility of feeding, providing for, and relocating his family has completely exhausted and prematurely aged him. He should have been finishing his degree and beginning his career in the last 2 years. Instead, he’s been hustling every single day to raise enough for his family to eat and stay healthy and safe.
Seraj and his whole family are malnourished. You might have heard that Gaza has run out of food, and that’s mostly true. There’s just enough goods left that many folks can still postpone death by starvation, but time is running out.
Seraj, his parents, his siblings, and his nieces urgently need support for the bare minimum. They haven’t had protein in months. They eat bread–often made with pasta or beans to stretch scant flour–and sometimes veggies. They are barely surviving, and have been for too long. They’re urgently at risk. Please help us support their family, and please commit to recurring weekly or monthly donations if you have the financial freedom to do so!
